1. loathe somebody/something/doing something (v) to dislike somebody/something very much: ghét, ghê tởm, không ưa
Ex: I loathe the smell of fried fish. Tôi ghét cái mùi cá rán.
They loathe each other. Chúng không ưa nhau.

2. yearn for something/somebody = long for something = pine for something (v) to want something very much, especially when it is very difficult to get: mong mỏi, khao khát cái gì
Ex: The people yearned for peace. Mọi người đều mong mỏi hòa bình.
Lucy had always longed for her brother. Lucy đã luôn mong mỏi gặp lại anh trai cô ta.

3. passionate about something (a) having or showing strong feelings of enthusiasm for something or belief in something: đam mê, say mê
Ex: Many young people are passionate about hip-hop. Rất nhiều bạn trẻ say mê thể loại hip-hop.

4. fond of someone/doing sth (a) feeling affection: thích, thương mến
Ex: I've always been very fond of your mother. Tôi luôn luôn thương mến mẹ bạn.

5. captivate (often passive) (v) to keep somebody's attention by being interesting, attractive, etc.: lôi cuốn, cuốn hút
Ex: The children were captivated by her stories. Các mẫu truyện của cô ta luôn cuốn hút những đúa trẻ nhỏ.

6. fancy something/doing something (v) to want something or want to do something: thích, hào hứng, muốn
Ex: I fancied a change of scene. Tôi muốn đổi không khí một chút.
Do you fancy going out this evening? Em có muốn đi chơi tối nay không?

7. keen on doing something (a) wanting to do something or wanting something to happen very much: ham thích, say mê
Ex: I wasn't too keen on going to the party. Tôi không thích đi dự tiệc chút nào.

8. look forward to something (v) to be thinking with pleasure about something that is going to happen (because you expect to enjoy it): mong mỏi, chờ mong
Ex: I'm looking forward to the weekend. Tôi đang mong chờ mau đến cuối tuần.

9. dread something/doing something (v) to be very afraid of something; to fear that something bad is going to happen: sợ, kinh sợ
Ex: This was the moment he had been dreading. Đó là khoảng khắc mà tôi thật sự đã rất sợ hãi.
I dread being sick. Tôi sợ bị bệnh vô cùng.
